How to keep your skin clear without makeup?

During quarantine, stopping the makeup seems like a brilliant idea to give our skin a ‘break’ from the blush and bronzer. This is beneficial every once in a while. Hopefully, your current situation at WFH would encourage you to ease into the morning, put on your daytime sweats, and not wearing makeup.

Why does skin start breaking when you stop wearing makeup?

According to experts, there may be some sort of “skin purge” period that happens when you suddenly stop wearing makeup. Some people can experience breakouts when they avoid applying their regular makeup.

Tips for keeping skin clear in isolation

  • Keep skin bare:

If your skin breaks out often more than normal because you’ve gone makeup-free, you might think the only easy cure is just going back to wearing makeup. Skincare specialists say this is not recommended as it does not improve the condition of the skin covering. The best thing you can do for keeping skin clear in isolation is by giving your skin a break from all the potential pores blocking products.

  • Wash your face every-day without any fail:

Make a skincare routine to wash your face properly — at least once a day, if not more frequently, to remove any dirt and sweat that can still be collected while you’re indoors and can cause breakouts.

  • Skip heavy or scented creams:

You should be aware of the heavy, fruity creams you wear. Any skin product that is too strong will lead to blackheads, whiteheads, and pimples. Your skin can also be balanced by chemicals and fragrance, particularly during this period of increased stress and sensitivity, so try to include fewer products on top of each other in your skincare routine.

  • Add exfoliation:

An important, easy skincare routine step is exfoliation. It’s good to use exfoliators to clean and refresh your skin and keep your skin from looking dull. Experts usually recommend following a serum or light moisturizer and sunscreen toner.

  • Don’t miss SPF:

The advantage of some of the best foundations and tinted moisturizers in the market is that they give an extra layer of sun protection that you might lose if you go makeup-free. That means you’re going to be extra conscious in wearing your daily sunscreen to keep your skin covered, as the foundation doesn’t give an extra layer of protection.

Last but not least

Being kind to yourself and recognizing the unique response of your skin to stress is very important. You’re probably feeling frustrated during this time and not sleeping enough, so taking care of your body is very important for your skin’s health.

Just stick to the basics, including and maintaining a well-balanced diet and drinking enough water.
