Leonardo Wilhelm DiCaprio, an American actor, producer, and environmentalist, was born on November 11, 1974. He has played unconventional roles, especially in biopics and period movies. As of 2019, his movies have made US$7.2 billion globally, and he’s placed eight times in annual rankings of the world’s highest-paid actors.

His career includes an Academy Award and three Golden Globe Awards. DiCaprio started his career by performing in television commercials in the 1980s. He had his first notable film role in “This Boy’s Life” (1993), which earned him an Academy Award nomination, also earned acclaim for the helping role of a developmentally disabled boy in “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape” (1993). After some of the movies that did not retrurn much financially, DiCaprio appeared in two renowned dramas in the year of 2002: “Gangs of New York”, and the biographical based on crime “Catch Me If You Can”.

There was an auction held at Christie’s, and this famous actor Leonardo DiCaprio was found in the event. He took the painting by Salvador Dali Chevaliers en Parade (1942) worth $1.42 million. The Titanic star had set his eyes on the Dali painting after losing Pablo Picasso’s works he was bidding on earlier in an auction event at Christie’s in New York.

Losing the Picassos

According to a gallery worker named Rachel Steckson, he always wanted the Dali Painting.

Chevaliers en Parade was valued between $1.2 – $1.8 million initially. It is a scene of war in which you can see a man on the horseback with a spear runs on the sphere representing the world in pursuit of it. It was painted during the exile of Catalan in the United States.

The last auction of Impressionists and modern art organized by Christie’s totaled $156 million. Chevaliers en Parade sale took place at the time when Claude Monet (1840-1926) and a Maurice de Vlaminck (1876-1958) was sold for $22.48 million.

Take away

With the purchase price of $1.2 million, it is another day in the life of the Titanic superstar Leonardo DiCaprio. He managed to get his hands on an auction in New York on a Salvador Dali painting. This actor has a great taste in art and managed to fool people by previously bidding on the Picassos.

So eager was the celebrity to have this beauty, and because celebrities prefer to bid through representatives, he himself turned up for the auction. It was a special event in itself. Leo was extremely pleased to have won the bidding, cheering with a loud Yes! The work reveals a knight on his horse.
